The Board of Trustees of the Richmondshire Building Preservation Trust (RBPT) is delighted to announce the appointment of Gemma Lord as the Trust’s new Chief Executive Officer, effective 6th October 2025.
Gemma brings a wealth of experience in heritage, community engagement, and creative place-making, and joins us at a pivotal moment as we embark on ambitious plans to expand our reach and impact across Richmondshire with the proposed development of the Old Grammar. Her appointment marks an exciting new chapter for RBPT as we build on the success of The Station and work to safeguard and celebrate the area’s architectural and cultural heritage.
Previously Gemma has been employed as an area operations manager of the National Trust and has been the lead on cultural and heritage projects in the region. Gemma is known for her collaborative leadership style, passion for inclusion, and innovative approach to revitalising heritage spaces.
Chair of the Board, Bryan Johnston, said:
“We are thrilled to welcome Gemma to the Trust. Her vision, energy, and deep connection to the values of RBPT will be instrumental as we grow our work with communities, young people, and partners across the district.”
Gemma Lord said:
“It’s a privilege to join RBPT at such an exciting time. Richmondshire has a rich heritage and a vibrant creative spirit. I look forward to working with the Board, staff, volunteers, and community to unlock new possibilities for historic places and cultural experiences that are rooted in local identity and open to all.”
Please join us in warmly welcoming Gemma to the RBPT family.
